One way to end chronic disease is to reduce dietary intake of AGEs by 10-100 times.
How?
We'll get to that, but first let's start with what they are and how to stop ingesting them so much!
AGEs (Advanced Glycation End Products) are toxic compounds formed when proteins and fats combine with sugars during high-heat cooking (grilling, frying, roasting).
Why does this matter?
AGEs trigger disease!
How does that work?
AGEs bind to your body's RAGE receptors (Receptors for Advanced Glycation End Products), triggering:
- Breakdown of the Blood-Brain Barrier
- Chronic Inflammation
- Neuronal Damage
- Oxidative Stress
- Vascular Damage
Those five factors listed above have been studied to show that AGEs accumulate in the brains of Alzheimer's patients, contributing to:
Amyloid Plaque Formation & Neurodegeneration.
I'm sure we're agreed that nobody wants Alzheimer's disease or cognitive decline of any sort, am I right?!
In my previous blogs, I showed how chronic inflammation leads to autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, kidney dysfunction, cancers, and so much more!
Nobody wants that!
So, how do we reduce AGEs by 10-100 times?!
Animal-based foods are especially high in AGEs, even before cooking!
Why?
Because... Animal-based foods have a high percentage of fats and protein.
After cooking, they have 10-100 times more AGEs than plant-based, whole foods!
A whole food, plant-based diet is a compassionate diet that improves health and longevity.
Compassion = Health
We CAN prevent more loss of life.
My mom and grandparents died from Heart Disease, Alzheimer's, stroke, and cancers while eating in a way they truly believed was healthy, but animal-based.
I remember my mom's pain, tears, and confusion, not knowing her angina was actually what the doctors later called ( after further testing) - many mini-heart attacks. I remember my grandfather's grief pouring out of his eyes as he suffered from losing my grandma to strokes, my mom, and then himself with Alzheimer's.
Compassion for our loved ones is reflected in the compassion on our plates.
To spare the lives of animals is to spare the lives of our loved ones.
We can significantly reduce the suffering, harm, disease, and death of our loved ones, ourselves, and our fellow sentient beings - the animals - by adopting a low-fat, whole food, plant-based diet.
