Nettles: Deep Nourishment for the Body

Nettles is one of those plants I come back to again and again.

It’s SO deeply nourishing.

Incorporating Nettles into your life is about rebuilding the body over time - through minerals, nourishment, and consistency.

This is where real change happens.

Nettles is incredibly rich in minerals.

In fact, dried nettle leaf contains approximately 800 mg of calcium per ounce when used as a nourishing herbal infusion.

That’s why it’s often used to support:

  • Bone density
  • Teeth
  • Hair
  • Long-term mineral stores

Nettle is also rich in magnesium, vitamin K, and other key nutrients for bone health - especially important for women.

Nourishing the body with nettles, along with regular movement or exercise, is a balanced way to support healthy bone density over time.

This is not a quick-fix herb.

Nettles works through deep nourishment over time.

Many women use nettle infusions to support:

  • Iron levels
  • Healthy menstruation
  • Energy and overall vitality

This isn’t something you use in the moment for cramps. It’s used over time to nourish the body, which may help reduce cramping - especially when mineral depletion is part of the issue.

Over time, nourishing with Nettle has shown:

  • significant improvements in inflammation markers
  • restoration of deeper energy and vitality
  • rebuilding after long-term depletion

Herbalists often work this way - nourishing the body so it can function better on its own.

Nettles is often considered a food-like herb.

It can be used regularly as part of a daily rhythm to support long-term health, rather than only being used when something goes wrong.

This is how we begin to support the body at the root level.

Nettles is generally considered safe during pregnancy and breastfeeding and is often used as a nourishing, food-like herb (unless there is a specific allergy).

There’s a lot to say about nettles, so I’ll be sharing more in a short series of posts highlighting different ways this plant supports the body.

If you’d like a simple place to start, you can explore my free resources on nourishing herbal infusions here.

If you feel called to this kind of work, I offer one-to-one sessions where we listen to what your body is actually asking for.

I often work through the feet, using reflexology and energy work to see where the body is holding stress or depletion.

From there, you’ll receive a clear guide connected to what comes up in your session, including the herbs associated with that meridian, along with other ways to support your healing and overall well-being.

If you’re as in awe of nettles as I am and want to learn more about how herbs support healing, this is exactly what I teach inside my Shamanic Herbal Apprenticeship.
